Point by Paul Smith

Midway through last week, I attended the private launch of Paul Smith‘s newest fabric for Maharam, held at Republic of Fritz Hansen‘s flagship London store. Point by Paul Smith, which should be seen first-hand for the full effect, is available in a dizzying 7 patterns and 11 colourways, each made up of 8 hues.

The fabric looks as gorgeous reversed as it does front-facing, and is inspired by Fair Isle knitting; specifically, a range of Fair Isle jumpers from Paul Smith’s archive.

We had the pleasure of speaking briefly to Sir Paul Smith about the collection; and as he showed us how directly the archival knits translated to the new patterns, his continuing enthusiasm for what he does was plain to see.
