The future comes to life

Over on Swiss Miss, my most reliable source of daily inspiration, I found this example of how the future as seen in the past is gradually coming true. Every sci-fi program worth its salt since the 1960s has included a device which translates foreign languages into the hero’s own tongue – and now your iPhone can do it.

This is called the Word Lens: it’s billed as “the dictionary of the future” and is available free from the iPhone App Store. The software uses optical character recognition and augmented reality to work its magic.
