Something to chew on/2

Kat Banyard, British feminist superstar, got a brilliant write-up from Kira Cochrane in today’s  Guardian G2.

The whole article is interesting, the standout for me being Banyard’s justification of feminism. At one fell swoop she provides us with the perfect reply to “but you all hate men”, “feminism is just about women”, “it seems bitchy” and the hundreds of other insidious comments every feminist has to respond to on a daily basis. Here it is.

“I think I just like seeing the best in humanity. If you believe in the inherent dignity of people, in justice and human rights, then feminism is for you. It says that rape isn’t natural for men, that men aren’t inherently violent, and that women aren’t just naturally insecure about our bodies and other issues. The best of us is to be found in feminism. I find that hugely inspiring.”
