Joumana Haddad on struggle

Lebanese poet & journalist and author of I Killed Scheherazade: Confessions of an Angry Arab Woman, Joumana Haddad, speaking to Jane Garvey on Woman’s Hour, Radio 4, 07/09/2010.

In response to Garvey’s question, “there must be a cost to the way you live your life?”

“There is, there is… it’s a difficult life but it’s also a very interesting one. It’s full of challenges, of… waking up each morning and finding that sometimes you have to start all over again – but at the same time I think that it’s a rhythm that suits my own character. Very much so, because I like struggles, and I have become trained, like I said, to struggle so it’s like this is the adrenaline that keeps me going on.”

Resonant.
